Try your luck at the bass fishing tournaments in Northwestern Ontario. There are great tournaments to participate
in like the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship on Rainy Lake or the KBI on Lake of the Woods. Below is a list of the
bass fishing tournaments in Sunset Country. For exact dates please call the contact them of visit their websites.
Shoal Lake Bass Classic - 1st weekend in July Held on Shoal Lake, Ontario. This is the best fishery
in the region with schools of smallmouths that have never seen a lure before. Smallmouths usually win this tournament, but
big largemouths can be a factor. The winning weight for this two day tournament is usually in the 32-34 pound range. For more

English River Bass Challenge - Mid July Tournament held on the English River System in Grassy Narrows,
Ontario. It is a First Nation sponsored bass tournament on the mighty English River in Northwestern Ontario. For more information,

Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship - 3rd week in July This is Canada's Largest Live Release Cash Bass Tournament, with a total of $172,500.00
in cash prizes. With a $50,000 first prize, this event on Rainy Lake attracts many of the best bass fishermen from all over
North America. Two teams have dominated this event the last two years. Jim and Bill Lindner, and Ted Stewner and John Guzej
have finished 1 & 2 two years in a row by targeting the big, main lake smallmouths. The winning weight for this three
day event is usually in the 55 pound range. The tournament first ran in 1995 and has been growing in size and fame ever since.

Kenora Bass International (KBI) - 2nd week in August This event on Lake of the Woods offers a $30,000 first
prize. Anglers here have the opportunity to fish for largemeouths or smallmouths. Largemouths have won the tournament more
than smallmouths over the last few years. If the water is high, largies will win, if it is low, smallmouths will be more of
a factor. The winning weight for this three day event will be in the 45-50 pound range.
Dingwall Ford Bass Tournament - 3nd Sunday in August This a one day Bass Fishing Tournament that
welcomes anglers of all ages. The tournament is held in Dryden on the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes (excluding Dinorwic Chain).
There are plenty of cash and merchandise prizes to be won, in 2004, we paid out $6000.00 cash to the Top 8 teams, as well
$500.00 for the Big Fish Pot and lots of merchandise including a boat & motor prize. For further details or to obtain

Atikokan Bass Classic - 2nd or 3rd weekend in August (Friday & Saturday) Join in the smallmouth bass fishing tournament
held on Dashawa, Crowrock and Turtle Lakes near Atikokan, Ontario. This chain of pristine northern waters has an abundance
of big scrappy smallies. Anyone who likes fishing can enter the competition. The Atikokan Bass Classic is known as the "funnest
bass tourney in the Northwest". The Competitors will begin their fishing day on Friday and the tournament will end on Saturday.
In 2005, it costs only $300.00 a team to enter, and that includes a BBQ steak supper Saturday night. This is an artificial
lure only - live release bass tournament. The top five teams will be awarded cash. $12,000 based on fifty participating teams.
Few, and if history proves true to past tourneys, no anglers will go home without a prize. Above all, expect to find the same
friendly people, great fishing and scrumptious steak dinner that participants have always enjoyed in the past. For more information

Dogpaw/Caviar Lake Annual Bass Challenge - Last weekend in August Location: Dogpaw/Caviar/Flint

Morson Bass International - last weekend in August This is the new three day event for 2005. This tournament will take place at the Morson
Government dock with a "big tent" and Lionel Roberts as MC for weigh-ins. It will be a blast.
Bassin for Bucks - 2nd weekend in September This three day event in Sioux Narrows has a different format than the rest
of the events we get to fish. Instead of just giving out prizes at the end of the tournament, organizers at this event give
out prizes after each day of fishing as well. They also have a separate prize category for kids making it a popular father/son
event. Fishing in Sioux Narrows is hot at the beginning of September; just ask Joe Pritchett and Hiram Archibald who brought
in a 21.5 pound bag in 2003. The winning weight for this tournamanet is usually in the 48 pound range, but it could go higher
if the big Whitefish Bay largemouths bite.
Crow Lake Classic - 3rd week in September Held on Crow (Kakagi) Lake. For more information contact

Last Chance Bass - 3rd week in September This Fall bass fishing tournament is sponsored by the
Shoal Lake band on Shoal Lake in Northwestern Ontario near Kenora. For more information, contact Randy Paishk or Vern Fair

LaBelle's Birch Point Camp Fall Bass Classic Held at the end of September or beginning of October. A catch & release fall bass fishing tournament held

LOWS Annual Live Release Fish Tournament - Beginning of February For those winter fisherman who
love the thrill of ice fishing,come to Morson for their catch and release Ice Fishing Tournament on Lake of the Woods. For

Stratton Fish Derby - Saturday May 20, 2006 Don't miss out, come and join us for a fun filled day

Agimak Lake Fishing Tournament - Second Weekend in July Get the whole family out for a fun day of
