Long Bay Lady Angler King Mackerel Tournament, Oak Island, NC

Sponsored by the Oak Island Fishing Club, this is the largest king fish womens fishing tournament on the east coast. Teams
consist of both women and men, but the women must handle all fishing gear, bait, and tackle. .Men are allowed to drive the

The Long Bay Ladies Angler King Mackerel Tournament now attracts almost 125 boats annually and is held in high esteem by
the community and anglers. An all CASH GUARANTEED prize structure adds to the enjoyment of the event. The tournament guarantees
its entire prize structure; it is not based on the number of boats that participate. Additional cash prizes and door prizes
are added to the event by sponsors.
This tournament, run by the Oak Island Fishing Club, is the largest womens tournament on the east coast! Women are required
to bait, rig, control the outriggers and downriggers, and all line and rods. Men are only allowed to catch the bait, drive
the boat, and gaff the fish. By limiting the fishing duties that the men on the boat can do, this tournament offers women
of all ages a chance to test their fishing skills without husbands, fathers, boyfriends, brothers, etc. telling them to had
me the rod. It is not uncommon to see 12 year old girls fishing hard with their dad as well as 65 year old women fishing with
their sons and daughters.
The Oak Island Fishing Club keeps the entry into this KMT low to encourage as many lady anglers as possible to enter. The
prize purse is guarenteed and not dependant on a certain number of boats for the $12,500 purse. Most tournament require a
minimun number of boats.
Registration will take place from 3pm 9pm on Friday, August 3rd at Smith Park on Fish Factory Rd. The captains meeting
