The Thrill Of The Catch
If you haven't fished before, you don't
know what you're missing. If you did, you would be a fisherperson.
Not only does it bring you closer to nature, there's
the thrill of the catch. Imagine standing on the bank of a stream on a beautiful day, your rod bending under the weight of
a good catch. This one's a fighter and you take your time, allowing the fish to tire itself out before reeling it to shore.
When you finally land it, you realize you've just caught the biggest fish of your life. It's a great feeling and 1 you'll
never know until you give fishing a try.
Learning How To Fish
Now that I have your interest, perhaps you realize
that you don't have a clue how to go about fishing. Well, that's what I'm here for. If you want to learn to fish, here are
5 easy ways:
* Ask a family member or friend who is an experienced angler to take you along the next time they go
fishing -- they will be thrilled to have a new fishing buddy
* Research online -- there are hundreds of websites with
instructions on fishing gear, bait, and fishing tips
* Go to your local library and check out how-to fishing books
and magazines
* Check your local conservation or wildlife service -- they often hold a fishing day where beginners
can learn the basics of fishing.
* If you go on vacation in fishing country (which is darn near anywhere), check with
local fishing stores -- they often know local professionals who will teach you how to fish.
When To Go Fishing
Anytime
is a good time to fish; you never know what you might catch.
Some species are more active near dawn and dusk when
they are feeding, while others will bite any time of the day.
Certain times of the year are best for certain species.
Fishing is a pastime you can enjoy all year round.
Getting Your License
Fishing licenses are required in most places, which you can buy at fishing
tackle stores or Conservation and Wildlife Centers. The cost varies by location. Licenses for children are usually not required.
If
you want to fish on private property, be sure to get permission from the owner. Otherwise it is trespassing.
Pack
Up And Head Out
If you've read this far, it may be a sign you're getting interested in fishing. Just follow the above
instructions and soon you will be enjoying your favorite new hobby.

Fishing... What Does it Have to Do with YOUR Business?
04th July 2006
Copyright 2006 Juanita Bellavance
Do you love to fish? What do you love most
about it? Is it the challenge of snagging a bite, conquering nature or is it just the general tranquility of the magnificent
recreational fishing environments we often see on television specials about fishing?
Imagine yourself on a fishing
vacation. What comes to mind? The drive to the location can be resplendent in itself as you bounce along a less traveled road
surrounded by nothing but trees and majestic mountains along the way.
And then you see it.
The rushing water
over the bulging rocks and boulders, a beautiful sight and sound.
...the fish splashing through the water surface to
grab what morsels they can. You KNOW you are in the right place at the right time.
Are you fly fishing or trout fishing?
What gear do you need? Have you studied the habits of the fish so you can compete with their minds for the win? Will you eat
the fish for nourishment or catch it for sport and throw it back to safety, all the smarter for the next fisher I imagine.
Fish
are an interesting topic to consider. It's so interesting that many use fishing as a concept rather than a sport. We notice
fish swim in "schools" and when fed we often call it a "feeding frenzy."
When fishing for real fish, the odds are in
the fisher's favor when a "school" of fish is located. When fish are hungry, they go into a rash feeding frenzy once fed.
When
considering fishing as a business concept, it is often referred to in business in terms of a visual for how to choose a profitable
niche for your business. As in fishing we are advised to find a pool of hungry fish and give them what they hunger for.
What
are people hungry for that if you could provide it they would come in vast "schools" resulting in a "buying frenzy" to feed
their appetites? Study where the best "fishing" locations are and what "bait" will cause the frenzy. When you have mastered
the ability to choose wisely where to anchor and put out your bait, you will have a grand catch for not only a day, but for
life.
As you discover your "school of hungry fish" niche, remember to note that the fish who have been caught and thrown
back are wiser with each time they are caught. Constantly offer them more and more resistible products and services. It's
natural they you get better and better and choosing and offering the best "bait" as well as a fisher does who masters the
art of fishing.
Consider your business an art and treat your "fish" with respect and awe. Remember, we people are a
part of nature as well as those real fish. It's a beautiful sight to see the fish swimming happily and confidently along before
they learn to run and hide at the site of the fisher. Use your products and services to draw people to you as the fisher does
with the bait.
Use the highest quality gourmet offerings and potential clients and customers will indulge in a veritable
feeding frenzy upon your wisdom and services. And unlike with real fish, these can be loyally "hooked" on YOU for years to
come.
As we ponder the opening question, what is YOUR answer? ------ Juanita Bellavance, the author of this article

Fishing: A fun challenge and a way of
feeding mouths all over the world.
07th August 2006
Fishing refers to the practise of catching fish either for sport or
for food. Fishing is a practise that goes back to ancient times, as civilisations all over the world that have lived by the
coast have also learned to hunt for fish and catch them for food.
Fishing is a major industry with fish being shipped
all over the world, part of most people's diets. Fishing is also regarded as a hobby and a form of relaxation. Lastly fishing
has gained popularity as a sport in some places.
Fishing can be done a variety of ways. In antiquity it was done either
by hand or by spear. Fishing by hand is very difficult and considered to be very skilful. Using a spear or a bow is also difficult
but was done by ancient Egyptians and Greeks and still is used by some people today. In the past a three-headed spear called
a trident was used, which probably gave ride to the image of the Roman sea god Neptune holding trident. Another form is net
fishing, where nets are cast into the water to catch fish and particularly the more slippery marine life like eels. Modern
fishermen still use nets dragged by boats to trawl the water for a big harvest of fish.
Your average modern man fishing
for relaxation will use a fishing rod with bait and hooks, known as angling. Angling is governed by a lot of laws that limit
which waters can be fished and whether or not the fish must be returned to the water alive. Many opponents of fishing say
that the sport is cruel and painful, and that we should only fish what we need to survive. However, releasing the fish preserves
the population and also research has suggested that the fish feel very little pain from being hooked. Nevertheless fishing
is a relaxing past time and many people like nothing more than to sit by the riverside and patiently wait for a catch.
Sport
fishing is competitive and the rules are based on anything from number of fish caught to the weight and size of the fish.
It is more common for sport fishing to go out to sea, where some people tackle the challenge of larger fish such as tuna or
even sharks.
